Ensuring your candle experience is an enjoyable one relies on proper candle care and maintenance. Here are some important burning tips for getting the most from your John Seagram Candle.

    • Always ensure the wick is trimmed to about 5mm before each burn and check regularly. If there is any sign of smoke from the flame, the wick is too long and the burn-time will be reduced.
    • To avoid tunnelling, always ensure that the candle burns long enough to allow the pool of wax to reach the sides of the container. This will mean the draw-down of wax will be even across the diameter of the container, and no wax will be unused and wasted.
    • The 1cm Rule: When there is approximately 1cm of wax remaining at the bottom of your candle, we recommend this is where you should discontinue its use. Time to light another John Seagram favourite scent.
    • Always burn candles well away from drafts, other heat sources, and anything flammable. Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
    • When the candle is extinguished, always replace the lid to retain fragrance.
  • Here are some more best practices for good candle care:
    • Candle tins may get hot during use so please ensure that you place them on a heat-proof surface.
    • Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours to avoid overheating.
    • Keep the burn pool clear of matches and other debris. This will avoid flaring.
    • Ensure candles are placed in an upright position.
    • Do not move a burning candle.
    • Do not use liquid to extinguish a flame.
